Stow on the Wold , where the wind Blows Cold!   as the age old rhyme goes. Stow at nearly 800 ft is the highest town in the Cotswolds and has been windswept all its long existence. Granted borough Status by Henry 1, the receiving of the Royal Charter in 1107 is remembered on the headstones of the market cross

Dubbed the "Crossroads of the Cotswolds", it seems that all roads lead to Stow, which makes it easy to find. Fortunately, they do not pass through the heart of the town so it is still peaceful and a popular tourist haunt.

Still retaining much of it's character the buildings and roads have been well preserved. Although it now seems to mainly house, Galleries, Antique shops and other trendy boutiques. Stow is and excellent base for a visit to the region and is within easy traveling distance of attractions such as Stratford, Bleinheim Palace and Sudeley Castle as well as all the normal Cotswold attractions. If you choose to stay here be sure to allow time for browsing the shops, they are fascinating and the locations, particularly around the pedestrianised Church Street are quite superb.
